CYFOR has a rewarding position supporting the NASA Safety and Mission Assurance Engineering Contract (SMAEC II) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas helping to continue our exploration of space. This position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to support NASA’s present and future human spaceflight programs.  The Orion Integration Engineer, Level 1, will provide technical support to various internal Orion SMA processes and assist with the coordination and integration of SMA activities.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring spacecraft systems comply with all applicable Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) requirements.  Specific tasks will include the following:

  • Perform technical review of Orion change paper
  • Coordinate and integrate technical evaluations of stakeholder evaluators
  • Assist with issue resolution, development of SMA positions, and provide recommendations
  • Organize and facilitate technical interchange meetings and management pre-briefs as needed
  • Track disposition of all comments and document issue resolution 
  • Collect metrics for Weekly Activity Reports
  • Oversee the execution of SMA processes in support of the Orion Program
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
  • BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or other science degree
  • 0-3 years related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills
  • High degree of technical excellence, integrity, and self-initiative
  • Ability to evaluate technical merits of spacecraft designs and identify alternative solutions to complex technical problems to mitigate mission risk
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple organizations / stakeholders and within a teaming environment to get results
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Power Point, Excel)
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with spacecraft design, test and verification, maintenance, and operations
  • Safety, Reliability and Quality Assurance (SR&QA) experience is desirable with emphasis on development and utilization of system safety (hazard analysis) and reliability analyses (FMEA/CIL, PRA, RBDA, FTA) to inform and influence design, test and verification activities, and planned flight operations
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and development of fault trees to support anomaly / non-conformance investigations
Required:  Candidates must be US citizens and able to pass a public trust security clearance
